Phased arrays are more portable, convenient, safe, and fast during inspection than traditional ultrasonic probes. It is simpler to operate, more efficient and produces fewer false alarms by recording hundreds of signals simultaneously. Phased array ultrasonic testing is radiation-free, offers a permanent record, and has a variety of uses. The lateral position of a defect (depth and height) can also be determined by PAUT since it can identify faults both at the surface and into the volume of a weld (without a dead zone).

PAUT Inspection Services are not capable of finding material fatigue, tubing inspections, and surface fractures/linear cracks.
PAUT is useful for corrosion detection services, corrosion monitoring, examination of composite materials and thicker welds with minimum surface preparations. Eddy current Testing requires minimum surface preparations and is capable of detecting welding flaws even if the surface is coated/painted is typically preferable in these situations.
